EcoCamp Chef wins second place in prestigious Gastronomy Award

EcoCamp’s chef, Alexis Meza, has won second place in Puerto Natales’ 2013 Gastronomy Award. The competition, now in its fifth year, pits the best chefs of Chilean Patagonia against each other in a competition to create the best king crab dish, a regional speciality, within a certain time limit.
Alexis won the prize for his ‘perol de centolla’ (King crab dish) at the ceremony in the hotel Costa Australis in Puerto Natales on Friday. The jury, with renowned chef Mariano Cid at its head, chose the winners based on presentation, flavour and creativity.

Alexis is from Santiago and this is his third season working at EcoCamp as head chef. He’s in charge of preparing a diverse menu at EcoCamp, ensuring guests enjoy their three course fusion menu each night! 
Since his win last Friday King Crab dish has been added to the menu at EcoCamp!
